My first impression is of how thoroughly the research done in support of this book is documented!

While the text concludes on Page 276, the Acknowledgements page on 358 is preceded by nearly 80 pages of references.

This is clearly an academic work, written for a general audience.

It concludes with observations about the ways our brains operate.

As a population, we humans don't appear to be well equipped to deal effectively with issues as complex as the ones that are at hand.
